This paper analyzes the characteristics of Chilean small and medium-sized export businesses (SMBs) and endeavors to answer the following questions: What are their predominant export markets? Has the number of small export businesses grown? Is there a larger number of small and medium-sized businesses selling to Europe or the USA? Are the same companies selling on both markets? What are the principal products they export? Do they tend to sell the same products on both sides of the Atlantic? Are small and medium-sized exporters concentrated more in Santiago or in the regions of the country? And finally, what measures would be convenient to take to expand exports of the country further and, in particular, to take advantage of the opportunities available under the trade agreements with the EU and the USA?
