This paper explains and analyses the theory of tolerance developed by John Rawls in the framework of the ends of global justice expressed in the elaboration of the law of peoples. It specifically critically examines the significance, role and limits of tolerance according to Rawls’ theory in his book The Law of Peoples, which addresses the relations of liberal society with societies that are both liberal and non-liberal. In the author’s opinion, the supposed analogy between Rawls`s concept of tolerance in the domestic realm and in the law of peoples is not fully satisfactory.
